Cyprus Historic and Classic Motor Museum is located in the area of Limassol in a spacious 3000 square meters, you will admire Classic, Historic and Collectible Cars. The “Cyprus Historic and Classic Motor Museum” is a remarkable home for classic cars with highlights of their historical and emotional value. The museum inaugurated on the 1st of February 2014 by the Minister Transport, Communications and Works, T. Mitsopoulos and was located in Ypsonas Area. As of 1st of November 2015, the Cyprus Historic & Classic Motor Museum has moved into a bigger, more spacious premises with better facilities. A place of 3000 square meters for all types of events.
Visitors can admire the museum’s eclectic collection of cars covering the period of the last century. The museum highlights the cultural importance of the development and growth of the automobile industry. The oldest car in the collection at the moment is a Ford “T” roadster from 1912, which currently has 102 years of life on the road. The newest vehicle is a collectible piece from 2004. Each visitor can enjoy a different yet memorable experience learning the progress of the vehicles through the passage of time. The founding of the museum is due to the vision of veteran Rally Racing champion of International and Cypriot rally competitions, Mr. Dimi Mavropoulos. He gave his personal collection of 90 historic, classic and collectible cars and launched this museum especially for their display.
The museum collection includes worthy and admirable vehicles, many of which have both cultural and emotional value for the Cypriot people. You will appreciate the armoured presidential «Cadillac» donated by the U.S. government and built especially for the President Makarios III in 1977. Unfortunately, he never was able to use it and so it passed into the hands of the presidential guard and the subsequent governments. Because of the armour, it weighs 4.2 tons, has bulletproof windows that do not open, and features air conditioning with protection from harmful gases.
